DNT

Ugyen Tshewang

Experience: 31 years in government service, Trashiyangtse dzongdag, Secretary of National Environment Commission
Education: Doctor of Philosophy in Farm Animal Medicine and Production. Describe yourself in three words.
Down to earth.

Your priority for the constituency.
Efficient health services, Kuri-Gongri hydropower project, good farm roads, adequate drinking and irrigation water, modern agriculture farming and marketing.

One aspect you like and dislike in the ongoing election process?
Like: Participation in the nation building process.
Dislike: Introducing about my experience and achievements.

What according to you is the biggest challenge for the country?
Democracy is still very young.

Three reasons why people should vote for you.
My strong commitment to serve the Tsawa Sum, my 31 years of experience in government service and my humility.

The first thing you will do if you win.
Work on pledges.

Social media, a boon or bane in this election for you?
Good so far.

DPT

Tshering Choden
Age: 45
Experience: Six years as teacher, 13 years as principal and two years in business.
Education: Masters in educational leadership and management.

Describe yourself in three words.
Approachable, kind and determined.

Your priority for the constituency.
Blacktopping of roads/farm roads, safe drinking water, mobile connectivity, BBS channel and farm shops.

One aspect you like and dislike in the ongoing election process?
I like the whole process except the corruption and harassment given to the people by some political parties. People are forced to vote for them and not given the right/freedom to vote for the right party.

What according to you is the biggest challenge for the country?
Self-reliance, country’s sovereignty and security.

Three reasons why people should vote for you.
DPT’s manifesto encompasses both long-term and short-term plans that well cater to the needs of the people and the country. DPT has the experiences of both ruling and opposition in the last 10 years, and I like to serve the people of my constituency and fulfill their dreams and aspirations.

The first thing you will do if you win.
Blacktopping of farm roads and connecting those remote villages with farm roads.

Social media, a boon or bane in this election for you?
Social media is a bane for me as it has created misunderstandings and distrust among political parties and party supporters. It has also misled innocent people from choosing the right party.
